Wyoming licenses independent clinical social workers as the LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker), through the Wyoming Mental Health Professions Licensing Board. Wyoming is not a Social Work Licensure Compact member. Below: what Wyoming asks of a social worker already licensed in another state, and where those applications slow down.
Wyoming Social Work License Requirements
Wyoming licenses social workers at 3 levels: the CSW (Certified Social Worker), the PCSW (Provisional Clinical Social Worker) and the LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker).
CSW: ASWB Bachelors. CSWE-accredited BSW (Rule 6-3). A CSW always practices under the clinical supervision of a Wyoming-licensed qualified clinical supervisor (DQCS) plus administrative supervision, may not diagnose or provide psychotherapy, and must name the supervisor to clients (Rules 6-1, 6-6).
LCSW: ASWB Clinical. CSWE-accredited MSW (Rule 9-3).
Independent clinical practice requires the LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker).
3,000 hours of post-master's supervised experience for the clinical license, including 100 hours of direct supervision.
Licensed elsewhere: Rule 9-6 licenses an applicant with a master's or higher in social work, a passing ASWB Clinical score and a discipline-free license in good standing in another state; every license held in the last five years must be free of discipline. No minimum years licensed.

Wyoming has no master's-level non-clinical license. An MSW graduate works under a provisional clinical license until the LCSW: 3,000 post-degree hours over 18 to 36 months, at least 1,200 of them direct client contact, and 100 hours of supervision with a DQCS (Rule 9-4).
The board approves you for the ASWB Clinical exam only after your supervisor certifies all 3,000 hours, completed in no less than 18 months. Out-of-state hours from the 24 months before a provisional application can count (Rule 7-4).
Wyoming is not in the Social Work Licensure Compact and the compact map lists no active bill.
Supervisor attestations and verifications from other boards take the longest. Request them the week you decide to apply, not the week you file.

The Social Work Compact and Wyoming
Wyoming is not a Social Work Licensure Compact member, so a multistate license will not cover practice here even once the Compact opens. Seeing clients located in Wyoming takes a Wyoming license, by endorsement where the state offers it or a full application where it does not.
Keeping it current
Wyoming renews social work licenses every 2 years, with 45 hours of continuing education per cycle. Licenses expire every two years on the holder's birthday. 45 contact hours per renewal, including at least 3 in professional ethics and 3 in suicide assessment or intervention (Rules 14-3, 14-4). Holding licenses in several states means several calendars and several sets of CE rules, which is most of what our annual compliance service tracks.
